Huacachina: Peru’s Desert Oasis

Huacachina is a desert oasis and tiny village located in southern Peru. It’s just 5 kilometers away from the city of Ica and 350 kilometres south of Peru’s capital city Lima. Ica is the closest city to Huacachina.

The town is built around a small natural lake in the desert and surrounded by huge sand dunes.

Huacachina has a population of around 100 residents.

This is a very small town, Actually you can walk from one end to the other end within a few minutes.

The town is actually a collection of resorts and restaurants.

When you need a break or feel hungry you can find resorts and restaurants around the town.

The area has been declared a national cultural heritage site by the National Institute of Culture in Peru.

Getting to Huacachina is easy. You can take a taxi from Ica to the city. The taxi ride takes about 10 minutes and you will have pay around $4 USD for a taxi.
