The World’s Shortest Flight: Westray to Papa Westray

The flight from Westray to Papa Westray is the shortest scheduled passenger flight in the world. It can be completed within 43 seconds. Flights in this route are operated by a Scottish regional airline called Loganair and it charges approximately £21 one-way for the service.

The flights between Westray and Papa Westray in the Orkney Islands began in 1967 making it the world’s shortest flight and flights have been continuously operated by Loganair since then.

The total distance covered by the flights is 2.7 kilometres.

The airline operates this flight with one of its two Pilatus Britten-Norman BN2B-26 Islander aircraft.

There’s no bridge between the islands, so the flight is used almost as a bus service among visitors and residents.
