An Argentine submarine with 44 crew on board is missing in the South Atlantic.
The ARA San Juan submarine was last spotted Wednesday in the San Jorge Gulf roughly 432 kilometers off the east coast and nothing has been heard from the crew since.
The Argentine Navy has said that ships and aircraft are searching near the last known location of the submarine.
The contact was lost when the submarine was en route from the Ushuaia naval base to the coastal city of Mar del Plata in Buenos Aires province
ARA San Juan is a TR-1700-class diesel-electric submarine.
The German-built submarine San Juan was laid down on 18 March 1982 and launched on 20 June 1983.
